Katherine Court Apartments

  • 855 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201
  • Website

This Macon landmark, now on the National Register, will soon turn 100. New mechanical systems were installed in time for the grand opening in 2002 and the Macon Heritage Foundation presented Katherine Court a design/preservation award. Katherine Court is now a modern facility inside a historic building: with high speed Internet, washer-dryer connections, stainless hardware, dishwashers and 90% efficiency natural gas furnaces along with pilot-less gas cooking. These updates also help keep utility bills low. Katherine Court, across from the Cannon Ball house and the Hay House, is within a ten-minute walk of at least 20 eating and drinking establishments. It is also close to the Medical Center of Central Georgia and Mercer University School of Law. Each of the 28 apartments is unique and most have patios, and there is also a spectacular roof top deck.

Each loft has its own personality and offers a vast array of distinct maple-paneled walls, bedroom skylights, and private decks, colossal arched and wrap around windows with magnificent views of Woodruff Park and Downtown Atlanta. All kitchens are complete with Euro-style cabinets, dishwasher, range and refrigerator. Parking is provided at an adjacent parking garage. A roof deck has also been added to the Muses Building offering a fantastic view of Woodruff Park and downtown Atlanta.

The Terrace Apartments

  • 876 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201
  • Website

This building, as home to middle Georgia’s most stylish and upscale people, had all the latest conveniences, such as a refrigerator for every apartment, elevators, tile baths with a circulating hotel type hot water system, steam heat, and even an incinerator in the basement for burning garbage. The building still has all these things, including the incinerator in the basement. It is too heavy to move but its use is now outlawed! The Terraces renovation has won awards from Newtown Macon and has been placed on the National Register of Historic Buildings.
